The much-anticipated Reliance Jio phone 2021 bid went live today through Reliance Retail and Jio retailers.
Customers will get 2 GB of data a month and unrestricted voice calls for two years with the JioPhone 2021 bid, which costs Rs. 1,999. With this plan, the telecom operator promises to hasten the market's shift to a "2G-mukt Bharat."
Akash Ambani, Director of Reliance Jio, had said when announcing the offer: "There are still 300 million subscribers in India who remain 'trapped' in the 2G era, unable to access basic features of the internet, at a time when the world stands at the cusp of a 5G revolution. Since the last four years, Jio has democratized the internet and passed on the benefits of technology to every Indian. Technology no longer remains a privilege of a select few. The new JioPhone 2021 offer is another step in that direction. At Jio, we have and will continue to take bold steps to eradicate this Digital divide and welcome every Indian to join the movement."
For Rs 1,999, new users can get a JioPhone smartphone with two years of uninterrupted voice calls and bandwidth (2 GB high-speed data per month).
The JioPhone system would cost Rs 1499 for a year of unrestricted operation.
Customers on other networks spend '2.5X higher' for equivalent offerings, according to the company.
The company has also announced a Rs 749 recharge deal for current customers, which will provide them with unrestricted calls and 2GB per month data for a term of 12 months.
